'Highland Sightseer'

John Kraska.

'Second Sightings' Exhibition

The Printmakers Gallery,Inverness, and touring venues. 1996-98.

The illustration for the catalogue was made quickly by working in a form of reverse collage directly on to the glass bed of a laser colour copier using some 'components' picked on the way, petals of poppy, papaver somniferum, and monkshood, aconitum, etc., coupled with recent chalk drawings and a tape measure. Only at the point of editing the completed image, examining it to place differing dynamic emphasis on the shapes and lines, did the arched form of the sculpture become quite definite. Both the written text and picture, created by means of today's technical wizardry, were left behind, having prepared the ground for the structure that was beginning to form.
